Do you suffer from shoulder pain, knee pain, pelvic pain, CRPS, or phantom pain that has failed to improve with time and/or conservative therapy? If so you may be a candidate for this quick and simple treatment option.
DRG is a revolutionary new procedure to treat CRPS and a variety of other chronic pain conditions. The “DRG” in DRG Stimulation refers to the Dorsal Root Ganglion, also sometimes known as the posterior root ganglion. The idea of DRG stimulation is similar to traditional Spinal Cord Stimulation (SCS), but is more targeted to the specific regions of the cord.
Research has demonstrated that electrically stimulating the ganglion offers patients better and more targeted pain relief from Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS). It has also been found to provide pain relief from other chronic pain conditions including shoulder and knee pain that haven’t responded to other treatments.
The idea of DRG stimulation is nearly identical to traditional Spinal Cord Stimulation (SCS), with one very important difference – rather than placing the leads in a general region of the spinal cord, DRG stimulation targets the specific regions of the cord that are transmitting the pain and shuts down those painful signals directly by placing the leads directly over the DRGs.
DRG can have long-lasting results.
While results vary by patient, most can return to normal activities within a few days.
If you have Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) Type I or II or are suffering from severe pain in your lower limbs that has not been alleviated by any other traditional treatments, DRG may be right for you. We will schedule an appointment with one of our Board Certified Physicians, to see if this treatment is a good fit for you.
